Cristi Iftime's 'The Fear's Artist' and Marius Olteanu's 'We Won't Get Old Together' each secured a share of the €30,000 inaugural Transilvania HBO Award. A significant new investment in regional cinema, this dual recognition spotlights emerging talent, a strategic move to support diverse cinematic voices.
A substantial €30,000 prize was awarded, but it was split between two projects. This potentially spreads the immediate financial impact thinner while doubling the recognition. Each film received €15,000, positioning the award as validation, not singular empowerment.
The dual win reveals a strong talent pool. HBO and Transilvania strategically elevate multiple voices, likely boosting the award's prestige and reach. The strategy builds a network, prioritizing broad industry recognition over a single funding launchpad.
The Inaugural Award's Financial Impact

This allocation, €15,000 per project, confirms HBO's intent: not a singular production budget, but a strategic development grant. It signals a commitment to cultivating a broader base of talent rather than funding one breakthrough film.
